Budding writers are being invited to compete in two new creative writing competitions, launched as part of next year’s Festival of Literature.
Capture 380 combines writing and photography, with entrants asked to submit one image relating to the 2016 festival theme time, alongside a caption of 380 words or less.
Entrants will be welcome in both Arabic and English, with one winner in each language to take the top prize from title sponsors Emirates Airline, of four tickets to any destination the Airbus A380 flies to. The competition is open to UAE residents aged between 14 and 25, with a closing date of January 10.
Costa Debate is open to all UAE residents aged 14 or over. Entrants are invited to weigh in on the age-old “coffee vs tea” debate by submitting a convincing case, in English or Arabic. Winners will be invited on a four-day trip to the Costa Roastery in London.
The Emirates Airline Festival of Literature is the region’s largest celebration of the written word. The 2016 edition will welcome more than 140 writers to the emirate, and takes place in March 1-12.
