Abu Dhabi Classics completed the first of a two night run by the Toulouse Symphony Orchestra on Tuesday.

Abu Dhabi Classics completed the first of a two night run by the Toulouse Symphony Orchestra on Tuesday.

Making their debut at Emirates Palace, the ensemble was led by Russian conductor Tugan Sokhiev and guest French cellist Edgar Moreau with a programme that gave a nod to the region.

The highlight of the evening was Rimsky Korsakov's dramatic symphonic suite Shéhérazade, inspired by the titular main character from One Thousand and One Nights. Other pieces performed included Beriloz's Ouverture Le Carnaval Romian and Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Roccoco Theme.

The orchestra play the closing night of the Abu Dhabi Classics programme on Wednesday at Al Ain's UAE University Great Hall with a programme that includes Carl Nielsen's Aladdin and Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique.
