From A to B filming is complete

Principal photography has been completed on Ali F Mos­tafa's movie From A to B, co-produced by twofour54 and Image Nation (which is owned by The National's parent company Abu Dhabi Media). Filming in Amman just wrapped up after a 26-day schedule. The cast and crew began filming in Abu Dhabi and Liwa in early April, before going to Amman, Petra and Wadi Rum. The Saudi stand-up comedian and social media star Fahad Albutairi, the Egyptian actor Shadi Alfons and the Syrian actor Fadi Rifaai are in the drama about three pals on a road trip from Abu Dhabi to Beirut. British fashion tutor Louise Wilson dies

Louise Wilson, the British fashion professor who influenced several designers, including the late Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney and Phoebe Philo, has died at the age of 52. Giving her an award in 2012, the British Fashion Council said the Scot was "one of the foremost educators of her generation, whose graduates populate the fashion houses of the world". Vogue reports that Wilson was thought to have died in her sleep on Friday while visiting her sister in Scotland. – AFP

Godard has no plans to attend Cannes film festival

The French-Swiss director Jean-Luc Godard said on Saturday that he has neither plans to go to Cannes nor is he interested in receiving the film festival's top prize, even if his Goodbye to Language is among movies in competition for the Palme d'Or. In response to a question from the Swiss television RTS on whether he would attend the festival, Godard said: "No, because I have already been." When asked what could be done to change his mind, the 83-year-old's reply was "nothing". – AFP
