Abu Dhabi Restaurant Month
Don't miss the chance to try some of Abu Dhabi's best restaurants at a bargain price during the capital's first-ever restaurant month. NYUAD returns
NYUAD, Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi
The programme at New York University Abu Dhabi's tenacious arts centre roars back into life, kicking off a broad arc of performance art with three events this month alone. They begin with a 27-hour concert of "ritual groove music" from maverick Swiss pianist Nik Bärtsch (Thursday and Friday). Kuwaiti electronic innovator Zahed Sultan will present an immersive visual spectacle as part of a double bill with Brazil's DJ Dolores, on September 21 and 22. Against the Tides

Unity, peace, tolerance and diversity are the themes of an exhibition by 27 Dubai-based artists (including one by Elizabeth Bruce, pictured). Against the Tides will showcase more than 60 artworks, including two paintings by five-year-old Sarrah Tambawala, as part of an attempt to promote art among children. Shankar Mahadevan Live– Songs of Krishna

Bollywood singer Shankar Mahadevan will take the stage with his sons for the first time in Dubai for Songs of Krishna, a semi-classical concert featuring an eclectic mix of Carnatic music compositions and qawwalis infused with jazz and rock elements. Yanni

Crossover star Yanni is coming to the capital to perform a concert at du Forum. The 61-year-old musician will perform alongside a 15-piece orchestra, presenting works from his latest album, Sensuous Chill. Although he has staged shows in other emirates – including a historic performance at Dubai's Burj Khalifa in 2011 and, most recently, at Sharjah's Al Majaz Amphitheatre in November — this will be the multi-instrumentalist's first appearance in Abu Dhabi.
