Sinha picks up Indian Razzie for Son of Sardaar

The Bollywood equivalent to the Golden Raspberry Award, Golden Kela Awards, have been doled out to the worst contributions to Indian film. Ajay Devgn and Sonakshi Sinha, who both starred in the feudal drama Son of Sardaar, were named Worst Actor and Worst Actress respectively. Although the film was a box office hit, it bombed with the critics. The science fiction comedy Joker, directed by Shirish Kunder, picked up Worst Film, while the Why Are You Still Trying award went to Jackky Bhagnani, whose father Vishnu is one of India's most prominent producers. – IANS

Although it was panned when it first came out in 1994, Andaz Apna Apna has since gained a cult following and now, the film's lead actor Aamir Khan says it's one of his favourite films. In an interview, Khan revealed that he would like to work again with his co-star Salman Khan if they found the right script. "He is a great person to work with. If we come across a script then we will be happy to do it," he told reporters. The actor is currently shooting for Rajkumar Hirani's new movie P K. His other much-awaited project Dhoom 3 hits cinemas in December. – IANS

Joshi to take on war and comedy

The genre of war comedy is obscure not just in Bollywood but in world cinema, says the actor Sharman Joshi, who will begin shooting for War Chod Na Yaar. Directed by Faraz Haider, the film will portray the relationship between the Indian and Pakistani soldiers on the border and how they are challenged when war is declared. "It says things of substance in a very light, smart and piercing fashion. It's a film we all will be proud of," said the 34-year-old. "I have not seen a film with this concept." The movie also features Jaaved Jaffrey, Soha Ali Khan and Mukul Dev. – IANS

According to the Australian model-turned-actress Kristina Akheeva, Bollywood is reaching international standards and becoming popular on her home turf. Akheeva, 26, who was born in Russia and moved to Australia when she was a child, has been working in Bollywood for the past two years. She starred in Sangeeth Sivan's Yamla Pagla Deewana II and learnt Hindi for the role. This weekend, she announced that "more than ever" she is seeing Bollywood on the rise in Australia. "Most of the younger people know Bollywood and it's becoming really popular there." – IANS

Taking on the lead role of a commando in the Indian army who strays into enemy territory is a proud moment, says Vidyut Jamwal. "It's a very big privilege for me to come as a solo lead. I am very happy that Vipul Shah and Dilip Ghosh have given me this privilege," said Jamwal. Opening next month, Commando also stars the former Miss India Pooja Chopra and Jaideep Ahlawat. "I can say that the audience will not be disappointed," added Jamwal. – IANS
