Singh and Chauhan ready to bring the house down

Regulars on the UAE concert circuit, the Indian playback singers Mika Singh and Sunidhi Chauhan will perform together tomorrow at the Dubai World Trade Center.

With several recent chart toppers to their credit, including songs from R…Rajkumar (2013) for Singh and the forthcoming film Highway – starring Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda; out on February 20 in the UAE – for Chauhan, the singers are looking forward to their first international show of the year.

Chauhan, who has been singing since she was 4 years old, found fame with her songs (especially Ruki Ruki Si Zindagi) in Mast, the 1999 film by Ram Gopal Varma. She has been nominated for 14 Filmfare awards and has won twice, and was also been awarded the R D Burman Award for New Music Talent (2000). Chauhan’s versatility has also led her to sing in Punjabi, Telugu, Kannada and Tamil-language films.

Singh (real name Amrik Singh) shot to Bollywood fame with his songs in the Akshay Kumar film Singh is Kingg (2008), and probably is best known for the pop track Mauja hi Mauja in the romantic blockbuster Jab We Met (2007), starring Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor. He is also a composer, performer and songwriter.

“It feels great to start the 2014 with my first out of India show in Dubai, a place that always feels like home,” says Chauhan. “I personally feel that every country has its own charm. I love to explore and I’m always overwhelmed to witness the reactions of my international audiences. The UAE audience has a very different taste and at the same time they have the love for all kinds of songs and I love that. The audience here just can’t get enough of our music and is always enthusiastic and excited to see us come and play for them again and again. What more could an artist ask for?”

Singh, too, welcomes the chance to perform in Dubai.

“It has always been exciting coming back to Dubai,” he says. “It’s one of my favourite destinations since I first visited. I love everything about Dubai, its beauty, architecture, food and most importantly my fans. My fans keep bringing me back again and again. I don’t even remember the number of times I’ve performed here anymore. The audience in the UAE is spectacular, they have always appreciated my live performances. Their support and love is immeasurable. It’s because of them that I am here today and able to perform.”

Chauhan reveals that in addition to some of her greatest hits, she will be performing lots of new songs.

“I will be singing all my new songs including my new favourite Tu Kuja from the film Highway. I wish to show my audience the best time ever.”

“I will rock the stage with my new hits like Agal Bagal, Gandi Baat and Tooh,” adds Singh. “I will also perform some of my all time greatest hits. Songs like Sawan Mein Lag Gayi Aag, Mauja hi Mauja and Ganpat will always be part of my live performance.”
