Actress and designer Sarah Jessica Parker will make an appearance at Harvey Nichols and Bloomingdales in Dubai next week. The 49-year-old will debut her range of shoes, called the SJP Collection, at Harvey Nichols on December 7 and at Bloomingdales in Dubai Mall two days later.

“I am thrilled to be launching the SJP Collection in our first international market,” says the mother-of-three. “This is an enormous opportunity for us to reach a whole new customer, and we’ve had a lot of fun curating a collection we feel, and hope, properly reflects and suits the Middle Eastern woman’s lifestyle”.

SJP has partnered up with shoe mastercraftsman and Manolo Blahnik CEO George Malkemus III to create her range. The pair were inspired by not only Parker's style conscious character in Sex in the City, Carrie Bradshaw — after whom a shoe in the collection is named — but also New York of the 1970s.

While journalist Carrie had a penchant for pricey designer pumps, Parker has ensured her line of shoes, handbags and outwear will be more affordable. Shoes will be priced from Dh1200 and customers who visit Harvey Nichols or Bloomingdales on the days the star is in town will be able to have their purchases autographed.

Designs from the SJP Collection to have already gone on sale in Parker’s native United States include taupe lace-up suede booties, a black and gold grosgrain clutch and a stone coloured ‘Manhattan’ skirted trench coat.

Acutely aware of the popularity of her character Carrie from the hit HBO series with fans in the Middle East, Parker appears keen to spend time meeting and greeting fellow shoe-loving ladies while on the ground.

“I’m so looking forward to spending time with those who have been watching and supporting our collection from afar.” she said.
