Work has finished on the superstructure for Princess Tower, which will be the tallest residential tower in the world. The 414-metre Dubai Marina tower is scheduled for completion in December, developer Tameer Holding announced today.

The Princess Tower will surpass its Dubai Marina neighbor The Torch, the 348-metre tower which currently claims the title of the the world's tallest residential tower. The Torch started handing over units last months, amid some controversy.

The key phrase here is "residential." The 828-metre Burj Khalifa is still the tallest building in the world. But to compete for the title of world's tallest residential tower, the building must devote at least 90 per cent of the space to apartments.
