Preity Zinta may be joining politics

The actress and businesswoman Preity Zinta says she is "saddened by the current situation in India" and is "thinking" about joining "politics" because she wants to be part of a movement to bring positive changes to her country. Currently busy promoting her first production venture Ishkq in Paris, Zinta said: "Of late, I have been thinking that I will join politics because what is happening to our country makes me sad. I really want to be somehow involved in positively changing our country. One fine day, I am going to say vote for me," she said. She even painted a picture of herself as a politician: "I will be a glamorous politician. I will have nice hair, nice clothes and I will not be corrupt. But it's important to think about our country also." The 38-year-old actress is also the co-owner of the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket team King's XI Punjab. – IANS

Sushant Singh Rajput to shoot in Kashmir

The filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor, who introduced the television actor Sushant Singh Rajput to filmdom with Kai Po Che!, is all set to roll the cameras with the actor again for his next film, which will be widely shot in Kashmir and New Delhi. The film, to be produced by Ekta Kapoor, is an adaptation of Charles Dickens's classic novel Great Expectations. Sushant plays the protagonist in the film, which is as yet untitled and scheduled for release in October. A source close to the team said: "So far, only the [lead] actor has been finalised for the film. The makers are now looking out for an actress to star opposite Sushant." – IANS

Kavita Srinivasan: no fixed rule for success

Kavita Srinivasan believes there is no formula for film success. The southern Indian actress, who is making her debut with the revenge drama Kalicharan, hopes to be open to all opportunities. "It's hard to say what to follow in cinema because there is no conventional path to stardom. It's important to be open as an actor and do what your heart says, and that's precisely why I chose to be part of the film," she said. Directed by Sri Praveen, Kalicharan also stars Chaitanya Krishna and Rao Ramesh. – IANS
