A new jazz theme night is coming to town, with a band taking up weekly residency at Dubai’s Bistrot Bagatelle.
Word is there will be an unnamed quartet onstage at the French eatery – although from the pre-publicity photos, we only spot a trio of vocals, piano and a bored-looking saxophonist. No word on repertoire at the time of writing, although it seems likely the standards songbook will be well-leafed.
What’s more, “special guests” are promised throughout the season – who, what or when remains to be seen.
The night will launch February 11, with the band playing three 40-minute sets from 8.30pm, and the Parisian restaurant’s standard a al carte menu on offer.
In the meantime, true jazz lovers should make sure not to miss out on the fabulous, UK-based Ollie Howell quartet – who are resident at the UAE's first true jazz club Q's, at the Palazzo Versace Dubai, until February 10 (playing three hour-long sets, Monday-Friday, 8.30pm-12.30am).
Launched in New York’s famous Meatpacking District in 2008, the Dubai incarnation of Bistrot Bagatelle is based on the first floor of the The Fairmont Hotel Sheikh Zayed Road, and is open for dinner daily from 8pm. For reservations call 04 354 5035 or email reservation@bistrotbagatelledubai.com.
