"Black are like no other band you have ever seen," claims Sunill Grover of the concert organisers Signature Events.
Black are a group of 12 blind or partially sighted singers and musicians who will be playing their fifth concert in Dubai on Thursday.
The members met while at the same school for visually challenged children in Mumbai. After school, they went on to work as professional musicians, both in bands and as session musicians for movie and TV soundtracks, but they kept in touch.
Then, in 2000, they decided to form a group, and have since gone on to tour India, the UK, the US, Egypt and South Africa.
In Dubai, they will be playing some well-known numbers from classic and modern Bollywood movies. Expect favourite tunes such as Aao Huzur, Bekhudi Mein Sanam and Taktay Rehtay.
While their performances run flawlessly, the main challenge is the logistics of putting together such a show. Once on the road, they rely on a member who has partial vision to take care of their day-to-day needs.
Nevertheless, Grover adds that the band members are not seeking sympathy, just appreciation for their musical talents.
"This is not a charity concert. They only want the opportunity to do what they love, which is entertaining people," he says.
