Mohammed Assaf is giving his fans a special Eid present with the release of a new song and video.
An YouTube clip has surfaced showing behind the scenes footage from the video of Assaf’s new single Aywah Haghani (translated to Yes, I Will Sing).
The video is be released during the Eid Al Fitr break, set to begin on Thursday July 16 and concludes on Tuesday July 21.
The 15 second YouTube teaser shows Assaf walking Cairo’s streets and peering at the Nile River from a bridge, before cutting to a quick interview he states “I hope people like the song, inshaAllah.”
According to the Al Bawaba website, the video was directed by Muneer Barakat and was filmed in the Egyptian capital two months ago. The interior scenes of the shoot was done in the traditional restaurant Kushari Abu Tariq.
The setting is apt; the catchy track from last year’s debut album Assaf is written in an Egyptian bubblegum pop style with Assaf’s voice managing to sound uncannily like Mohammed Mounir.
