Online shopping has just got its biggest validation with 24Sevres.com, a brand-new portal launched by fashion mega-company LVMH in collaboration with Parisian department store Le Bon Marché.
Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH) is a vast organisation that owns fashion houses including Louis Vuitton, Céline, Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Dior and Loewe, as well as Le Bon Marché.
Despite controlling such a large slice of the fashion industry, it has taken the interesting step (in partnering with the 165-year-old Le Bon Marché) of stocking brands that are, essentially, rivals, which can only be of benefit to customers. With more than 120 brands on offer, and an intimate focus on womenswear, 24Sèvres is a veritable shopper’s paradise.
The site promises to offer “the finest selection of brands selected by Parisian experts”, a lofty claim that is nonetheless justified after even a brief browse around 24Sevres.com. Big names such as Gucci, Christian Dior and Valentino, sit alongside smaller companies such as The Row, Maison Rabih Kayrouz and Yeezy. Some of the other brands available include: Alexander McQueen, Aesop, Anya Hindmarch, Balenciaga, Chloè, Emilio Pucci, Fendi, Givenchy, Isbael Marant, Jimmy Choo, Kenzo, Lanvin, Laura Mercier, Max Mara, Miu Miu, Nicholas Kirkwood, Prada, Roland Mouret, Salvatore Ferragamo, Stella McCartney, Tory Burch and Zespa.
Ready-to-wear, accessories, beauty and fragrances, shoes and leather goods are all available, plus everything is curated using a combined know-how of one of Paris's best-loved department stores and the business-savvy LVMH. The result is a start-up site that offers an impressive selection of all things luxury. Some of the items are exclusive to the site, such as specially recreated versions of Loewe's Hammock Bag (Dh15,700); Beya loafers (Dh3,500) by Nicolas Kirkwood and Nix; and a bomber jacket (Dh9,900) designed by Marco di Vincenzo and Gio Pastori.
Based in France, the e-retailer will ship to 75 countries including, we were delighted to see, the UAE.
24Sevres.com is now live.

Day 3, Dubai Test: At a glance
Moment of the day Lahiru Gamage, the Sri Lanka pace bowler, has had to play a lot of cricket to earn a shot at the top level. The 29-year-old debutant first played a first-class game 11 years ago. His first Test wicket was one to savour, bowling Pakistan opener Shan Masood through the gate. It set the rot in motion for Pakistan’s batting.
Stat of the day – 73 Haris Sohail took 73 balls to hit a boundary. Which is a peculiar quirk, given the aggressive intent he showed from the off. Pakistan’s batsmen were implored to attack Rangana Herath after their implosion against his left-arm spin in Abu Dhabi. Haris did his best to oblige, smacking the second ball he faced for a huge straight six.
The verdict One year ago, when Pakistan played their first day-night Test at this ground, they held a 222-run lead over West Indies on first innings. The away side still pushed their hosts relatively close on the final night. With the opposite almost exactly the case this time around, Pakistan still have to hope they can salvage a win from somewhere.
