The final expansion pack for Dragon Age: Inquisition, DAI: Trespasser, will be released on September 8.

Set two years after the events of the main game, Trespasser explores "what it's like to be a world-saving organisation when the world no longer needs saving", according to game makers Bioware.

The trailer – check it out below – hints at war with the Qunari, a humanoid race from the Dragon Age universe, and promises to reveal the fates of the cast of characters assembled in the game’s main storyline.

Solas is back, there will be more dragons, and the politicians of Orlais are no longer happy to tolerate the presence of a militarised private state in their backyard.

Players will also get to decide the final fate of the Inquisition.

Reaction to previous expansion packs DAI: Jaws of Hakkon and DAI: Descent has been mixed. While critics praised the variety and environments found in Jaws of Hakkon, many disapproved of Descent's heavy focus on combat.

Trespasser will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, but not the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3.

To play the expansion pack, players will need to have completed the main game – fortunately, that doesn’t include the quest where you have to chase, kill and skin 10 rams. That would just be cruel.

X-COM 2 DELAYED

The release date for XCOM 2, the sequel to addictive, turn-based alien-killing strategy game XCOM: Enemy Unknown, has been pushed back from November to February 5.

"We've set a high bar for the sequel and the entire team has been working hard to make sure we deliver a great follow-up to Enemy Unknown," Firaxis Games, the developer, posted on its blog yesterday. "We just need a little more time to make it the best possible game."

XCOM 2 is set 20 years after the events of the previous game, after humanity's defeat at the hands of invading aliens. It will be released only on the PC and will be available through Steam.

Xcom was a tense, rewarding strategy game. Let's hope Firaxis Games uses the extra development time well.
