One of the most talked about women on the planet moved on from appearances at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to launch her perfume and host a celebratory dinner in Dubai on Monday, November 24.
Kim Kardashian West – organisers indicated that is how the reality star is to be referred to – brought her two-country promotional tour to a close with the roll-out of Fleur Fatale at Parfum Monde, a perfume showroom on Sheikh Zayed Road.
Considering the world's media seem to follow her every move, particularly on the heels of a nude pictorial published in Paper magazine, a suprisingly small group of fans gathered to catch sight of the star. She arrived an hour late, wearing a Balmain twist-knot crop top and Alexander McQueen palazzo pants.
As for her perfume, it was described by the star as “feminine, sensual, floral, woody and musky” – the perfume promises to evoke the Orient through its floral and citrus main accords. The scent’s notes include bergamot, violet and blackcurrant with tea rose, peony and iris at its heart.
The pearlised bottle with touches of rose gold, and a rose bud on top, was inspired by Kardashian West’s love of the flowers.
“When I was pregnant I really couldn’t stand any strong fragrances, I became really picky.” she said. “After I had the baby, everyone sent me flowers – a lot of roses – I became obsessed with the scent. I’d look for it everywhere: in skincare, haircare etc. I never got sick of the smell, so we came up with the best rose scent we could find. I’m so proud of the fragrance and it will always remind me of my daughter.”
Kardashian West arrived in the UAE five days ago following the fragrance launch in Australia. India was also originally scheduled but later scrapped, with the star issuing a statement saying that she was disappointed not to have visited the country as planned, adding that “time ran out” and she’d be rescheduling the trip soon.
Her husband Kanye West and “momager” Kris Jenner were in charge of babysitting the star’s child, one-year-old North.
“I thought all the plane flights would be too long for my daughter when she can play at home with her cousins and her dad,” said Kardashian West. “It was a good bonding trip for her and her Dad, which made me happy. I’m homesick and missing her. I would love to bring her here. On my next trip I must; I think she’d love it here.”
When asked about her career plans for the year, ahead of Kardashian West going back into business mode, she said: “It’s really about prioritising and not spreading myself too thin.
“The beauty business is something I’m really passionate about – my make-up, fragrances and haircare. So I really want to focus on that for the next year.”

Dubai works towards better air quality by 2021
Dubai is on a mission to record good air quality for 90 per cent of the year – up from 86 per cent annually today – by 2021.
The municipality plans to have seven mobile air-monitoring stations by 2020 to capture more accurate data in hourly and daily trends of pollution.
These will be on the Palm Jumeirah, Al Qusais, Muhaisnah, Rashidiyah, Al Wasl, Al Quoz and Dubai Investment Park.
“It will allow real-time responding for emergency cases,” said Khaldoon Al Daraji, first environment safety officer at the municipality.
“We’re in a good position except for the cases that are out of our hands, such as sandstorms.
“Sandstorms are our main concern because the UAE is just a receiver.
“The hotspots are Iran, Saudi Arabia and southern Iraq, but we’re working hard with the region to reduce the cycle of sandstorm generation.”
Mr Al Daraji said monitoring as it stood covered 47 per cent of Dubai.
There are 12 fixed stations in the emirate, but Dubai also receives information from monitors belonging to other entities.
“There are 25 stations in total,” Mr Al Daraji said.
“We added new technology and equipment used for the first time for the detection of heavy metals.
“A hundred parameters can be detected but we want to expand it to make sure that the data captured can allow a baseline study in some areas to ensure they are well positioned.”
