The filmmaker Karan Johar says he is still relishing in the critical and box office success of his latest movie Student of the Year, which stars the newcomers Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan. Asked what his next project is, Johar replied: "As of now it is still Student of the Year on my mind. We're still enjoying the success of the movie. But I will announce details when a new project is finalised. I am working on a period love story, but nothing is final yet." Rumours are that Johar's next film will star the Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, whom he directed in 2010's My Name is Khan. - IANS

Naomi Campbell in India for boyfriend's bash

The British model Naomi Campbell is setting up a lavish birthday bash in Jodhpur, India, for her Russian boyfriend Vladimir Doronin's 50th birthday today. More than 100 guests from around the world are reportedly attending, including Donatella Versace, Kate Moss, Giorgio Armani and Jennifer Lopez. Diana Ross will be the night's special performer. "Everything from the dinner to the decorations are based on Rajasthani culture," a source from the event management company involved with the celebrations told reporters. - IANS

Esha Gupta eager to do action films

The model-turned-actress Esha Gupta, who broke away from her glamorous image with the role of a police officer in the recent thriller Chakravyuh, says she would like to take on the action genre. "One major film that I would love to do in my life is a full-on action film - jumping off cars and buildings, the blood and all that. I don't know why but I feel that I can do them," said the 26-year-old star, who made her Bollywood debut earlier this year with Jannat 2 and Raaz 3. - IANS

Bhushan Patel to direct Ragini MMS 2

The director Bhushan Patel has been tapped to helm Ragini MMS 2, a sequel to Ekta Kapoor's 2011 horror hit. "We have signed Bhushan to direct the film, which will star the actress Sunny Leone," the production studio Balaji Motion Pictures said in a statement. "We loved his work in his new movie 1920: Evil Returns. He may be a newcomer but he has already shown he can do a great job. The film is currently doing well at the box office, so we are sure he will do justice to Ragini MMS 2." - IANS

Malaika Arora guarded about her role in Dabangg 2

After featuring in a hit item number in the 2010 film Dabangg, Malaika Arora Khan is rumoured to be starring in another production number for the movie's sequel, directed by her husband, Arbaaz Khan. For now, however, the actress and VJ is not ready to divulge any details about her part. "I'm appearing in the film, but in what capacity, you will only know that once you see the film," teased the star. "What I know for sure is that Kareena Kapoor is doing a special song for the film." Dabangg 2 stars Arora Khan's brother-in-law Salman Khan, Sonakshi Sinha and Prakash Raj. - IANS
