Justin Timberlake sings at Eurovision as Ukraine wins

Justin Timberlake made a guest appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday night, performing his latest hit Can't Stop the Feeling during the interval before the voting results were announced. Before his performance, at Stockholm's Globe Arena in Sweden, the American singer and songwriter said he had watched the previous two editions of the annual competition. "I know you must have been nervous, but you all represented your countries so very well," Timberlake told the 26 acts, as the voting by professional judges and TV viewers got under way. Ukraine's Jamala won the contest scoring 534 points with the song 1944. – AP

Salman Khan impresses at Mumbai stunt-bike day

Bollywood actor Salman Khan showed off his talent for performing stunts at a motorbike event in Mumbai at the weekend. The actor, who performed several daredevil stunts on a bicycle in the 2014 movie Kick, was at the Suzuki Gixxer Day in the Indian city, at which professional stunt artist Aras Gibieza performed. Khan rode a bicycle at the event and then took a front-row seat to watch Gibieza, a two-time European stunt-biking champion, perform tricks. "It's just awesome when you do stunts in front of this kind of person," said Gibieza. "It was so hot, so humid for me but I pushed myself as much as possible and I'm very happy to meet [Khan] and show my skills to him." – IANS

Prince’s Yellow Cloud guitar to be auctioned

Prince's Yellow Cloud electric guitar is to go up for sale next month at a Beverly Hills auction. The guitar – which has an opening-bid price of US$30,000 (Dh110,188) – was one of several custom guitars Prince used in the 1980s and 1990s, on songs including Cream and Gett Off. "I've been a Prince fan since I was a little kid, and that guitar always stuck out to me because it was super cool and stylish," says current owner Richard Lecce, who bought it for about $30,000 more than a year ago from Heritage Auctions. The instrument features a serial number and comes with a letter of authenticity from Prince guitar technician Zeke Clark, who noted that the guitar's neck was broken in France in 1994 and repaired. "Unfortunately, as morbid as it is, when people pass, their items become more valuable," said Lecce. "I think something as valuable as this could be too risky to continue to have in my possession." – AP

Depp live at disneyland as Mad Hatter

Johnny Depp surprised young fans at the Disneyland resort in Los Angeles by streaming a live video of himself inside a billboard advert for his newest film. Depp – who plays the Mad Hatter in Alice Through the Looking Glass, Disney's sequel to the 2010 Tim Burton movie Alice in Wonderland – wore his full costume from the film and talked to Disneyland visitors via an interactive billboard fitted with a hidden camera. Fans were shocked to see the actor responding to their questions and addressing them directly as children looked on in wonder. A video of the surprise appearance was uploaded on YouTube. The film, inspired by Lewis Carroll's classic stories, also stars Anne Hathaway, Matt Lucas, Helena Bonham Carter, Rhys Ifans and Sacha Baron Cohen, as well as the voices of Alan Rickman (in his final performance before his death in January), Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen, and Timothy Spall. – The National

Big B wants fans to help promote new film Te3n

Amitabh Bachchan has asked fans to help him promote his new film on social media. In an online video in which he talks about Te3n, his new thriller due for release in India on June 10, the 73-year-old actor says: "This time we want to know how you want to promote the film and market it." The campaign is called Te3n It Around and the actor and his colleagues want the audience to help to drive the film's promotional campaign, by suggesting ideas for posters, music, information and interactive games about it. In the video, the actor – fondly known as Big B – says: "We want you to take 'TE3N' forward... how do you see it? What do you want to see next in a poster, song or a game? You can connect with us now." Set in Kolkata, Te3n follows Bachchan's character John Biswas, who is in pursuit of justice for a crime that claimed the life of his granddaughter. – IANS
