Bollywood's most eligible bachelor has tied the knot. The actor and producer John Abraham married Priya Runchal in the US last week, with only family and close friends in attendance. Abraham confirmed the news with a tweet: "Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed 2014! May this year bring you love, good fortune and joy. Love, John and Priya Abraham." – The National staff

Beyoncé tops Billboard for third straight week

Beyoncé's self-titled album claimed the top spot on the US Billboard 200 album chart for the third week during the Christmas week – the first album to remain at No 1 for three weeks since Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience did the same in April. One Direction's Midnight Memories moved up a notch to No 2, while Eminem climbed to No 3 from No 6 with The Marshall Mathers LP 2. Inside Llewyn Davis is critics pick

The National Society of Film Critics chose Inside Llewyn Davis as the Best Picture of 2013 at its annual meeting in New York on Saturday. The society's 56 voting members are movie critics from around the US. The film, about a fictional folk singer in Greenwich Village in 1961, also won Best Director for Joel and Ethan Coen and Best Actor for Oscar Isaac. Cate Blanchett was named Best Actress for the Woody Allen film Blue Jasmine. – AP

Ramesh Sippy withdraws plea against Sholay 3-D

Ramesh Sippy, the director of the 1975 Bollywood action drama Sholay, has withdrawn a plea seeking a stay on the screening of the 3-D version of his cult film, after it was released over the weekend. The court said that Sippy's rights arising from his copyright on Sholay would remain intact and would be decided in a separate claim. The 3-D version of Sholay is produced by Sascha Sippy, the nephew of Ramesh Sippy and grandson of G P Sippy, who had financed the original. The film collected 1.5 crore rupees (Dh886,000) in India on its opening night on Friday. – The National staff

Steven Seagal may run for governor

Steven Seagal says he is considering running for the governor's office in the US state of Arizona. The 61-year-old made the comments while talking to KNXV-TV about his new reality series Steven Seagal – Lawman: Maricopa County. In the show, Seagal is a member of the Maricopa county sheriff Joe Arpaio's posse, which is made up of 3,000 unpaid civilians. Seagal has also has been deputised with sheriff's offices in New Mexico, Texas and Louisiana and says he wants to increase border security. – AP
