Jamiroquai and Chic featuring Nile Rodgers have been added to the Sandance bill. The seminal funk groups join The Killers, Of Monsters and Men and The Wailers when the event returns to Atlantis, The Palm on November 15. Nile Rodgers is currently experiencing a career resurgence after collaborating with Daft Punk in their worldwide smash hit Get Lucky. As well as topping numerous charts, Get Lucky was the first single this year to sell one million copies. Jamiroquai are no strangers to the UAE having performed at an F1 gig in Abu Dhabi in 2009. – The National staff

Sanjay Dutt says no to Dubai film premiere

The actor Sanjay Dutt, currently serving a three-and-a-half-year term in prison for his role in the 1993 Mumbai blasts, has asked Rahul and TP Aggarwal, the producers of his new film Policegiri, to not push through with plans to premiere the film in Dubai, reported Bollywood Hungama. Rahul said: "Sanjay wrote a letter to Manayata [Dutt's wife] saying that we should not spend money on holding the film's premiere overseas and, instead, organise a charity event in Mumbai for Uttarakhand's flood victims." TP Aggarwal said: "Sanjay's suggestion has moved us and, besides the charity show, we will also donate the producers' share from collections of the first show in Maharashtra." There also are plans to screen the film at Yerawada Jail, where Dutt is imprisoned. The action drama Policegiri, which also stars Prachi Desai and Prakash Raj, will be released in UAE cinemas tomorrow. – The National staff

J?Lo unaware of Turkmenistan rights issues

Jennifer Lopez would not have performed a private concert in Turkmenistan had she known about charges of human rights violations in the Central Asian nation, her publicist said. Human rights campaigners criticised Lopez for performing at the concert attended by the Turkmen president Kurbanguly Berdymukhamedov on Saturday. Lopez came under particular scrutiny after singing Happy Birthday to Berdymukhamedov at the event. "The event was vetted by her representatives, had there been knowledge of human-rights issues of any kind, Jennifer would not have attended," Lopez's publicist said in a statement. – Reuters

Hrithik and Katrina reunite for Bang Bang

After Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif will feature together in the forthcoming film Bang Bang, reported Bollywood Celebden. Directed by Siddarth Anand, Bang Bang is a remake of the 2010 Hollywood movie Knight and Day, which starred Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise. Sources say that portions of the film were shot in Thailand and Greece. The action comedy, which also stars the veteran actor Danny Denzongpa, is scheduled for release on May 1. – The National staff

Pharrell Williams sues will.i.am

Pharrell Williams filed a lawsuit on Monday asking a US court to rule he has not violated any trademark that will.i.am owns for the phrase "I AM". The lawsuit said that will.i.am, whose real name is William Adams, has repeatedly sent letters to Williams demanding he stop using versions of the phrase "I AM" on a website he founded, iamother.com. The lawsuit asked the court to declare that the phrase "I Am Other" does not "infringe, dilute or unfairly compete" with will.i.am. – Reuters
