If you've been looking at the cinema listings recently and thinking to yourself, "there just isn't enough Italian slapstick comedy", then you're in luck. Well, you are if you're in Dubai or Abu Dhabi either tonight or tomorrow, as the Italian embassy is screening the film Benvenuti Al Nord (Welcome to the North) for the first time in the UAE.
Hugely successful (it was the third-biggest opening in Italian history earlier this year), the film is the sequel to 2010's Welcome to the South and follows the same group of quirky postal workers in an adventure that skewers north/south stereotypes.
The film will be screening in the Vox Cine 12 in Dubai’s Mall of the Emirates tonight (Sunday) at 7.30pm, and tomorrow in the Abu Dhabi Marina Mall, Vox Cine 6 at 7.30pm. Both screenings will be introduced by the director Luca Miniera, who will be on hand to discuss north/south Italian stereotypes if you weren’t already aware what they were.
