The team behind the Dubai Jazz Festival has announced it will host a free one-day jazz event at Dubai’s Habtoor Grand Resort next month.
Taking place on April 28, the gig will revive the decidedly chillaxed “Jazz Garden” concept which used to run alongside the larger/poppier ticketed events.
First debuted in 2008, the Jazz Garden’s final, week-long stints at Dubai Festival City, from 2012-14, attracted thousands of music lovers every night – but were perhaps more memorable for the annoying blinking red sunglasses and branded hats distributed to punters than the music.
Those events typically featured a resident blues/R&B band with a revolving soloist/singer, as well as some dashes of considerable jazz talent.
No word on the line-up for the new event, yet but the management company promises “some of the best jazz and blues acts in the world supported by many talented local acts”.
