The global, family friendly, daytime music festival Piknic Electronik launches in Dubai this Saturday, 28 February at Dubai Sports City’s Rugby Zone.
Dubai is the fourth destination for the event, following succesful programmes in Montreal, Barcelona and Melbourne, and the February event will be the first of a series of monthly shows until the summer.
The Piknic seeks to attract two main types of fans. Lovers of electronic music will be drawn by a line up headed by a live set from Parisian tech-house head Joachim Pastor and featuring DJ sets from Creamfields veteran Maher Daniel and locals Raxon, Matthew Charles and Amir Sharara.
Families looking to enjoy the weekend out with their friends, meanwhile, can look forward to hula hoops, face painting, bouncy castles, yoga and pilates classes and a menu inspired by the best bits of summer piknics. Or picnics. Wraps, sandwiches, salads and burgers will sit alongside a variety of beverages. Quebecois favourite, poutine, will also be on the menu, in homage to the city of Piknic Electronik’s birth, while healthy kid’s lunch boxes add to event’s family focus.
Piknic Electronik Dubai's 2015 season dates have been confirmed for February 28, March 28, April 18 and May 9, with the next season kicking-off in November. Tickets will be sold at AED 130 online (www.piknicelectronik.ae) and AED 150 at the door for all people aged 13 years and over.
Separate wristbands will be given to the 21+ age group allowing access to bars and adult areas of the festival. Children under 12 enter for free and must be accompanied by an adult.
