Competition: Tired of stereotypes? Show us the real Abu Dhabi

The recent depiction of an Abu Dhabi street scene in Homeland left us scratching our heads. Where were our shining towers, glistening sea views and throughly modern cityscape? Where were the smooth blending of cultures, the delicate mix of old and new that give Abu Dhabi its heart? Instead of the capital's attributes what we saw was a rather shabby street thronged with a hustle and bustle that was frankly foreign. The shoot actually took place in Morocco.

In order to quash the 'Hollywood' idea of what an Arab city supposedly looks like, we invite you to send us pictures of the real Abu Dhabi. The best pictures will be published in an online gallery and our two favourites will receive a copy of The National's photography book. Use your imagination to show an Abu Dhabi that smashes stereotypes of an Arab city.

Send the pictures to yourpics@thenational.ae with the subject #realAbuDhabi or use the hashtag #realAbuDhabi on Twitter and Instagram for a chance to win. Winners will be selected on February 15.
