As often happens in the world of celebrity endorsements, Middle East audiences have been treated to the sight of a high-wattage celebrity doing a regular old advertisement for the small screen. The lead roles in this one, for Nespresso, feature the one-and-only George Clooney opposite an actress who has become much more famous in recent weeks. In the ad, Clooney and Nazanin Boniadi, who is British-Iranian, accidentally interchange their luggage at the airport. Boniadi opens her suitcase only to find Clooney's items, including boxes of Nespresso coffee capsules, while he has hers. Boniadi features in Vanity Fair magazine's October cover story about the Church of Scientology reportedly auditioning prospective wives for Tom Cruise. According to the story, Boniadi was a Scientologist at the time and one of the women selected and paired with the actor from November 2004 to January 2005 – when she was abruptly dropped. The magazine claims she is no longer a Scientologist. No word on whether Clooney will be dropping by the Abu Dhabi Film Festival next month to try a cup of Nespresso's new Kona Hawaii. The limited edition version will be introduced to the region in the festival's VIP suite.
