Aside from performing at the Atelier Festival on October 19, the American hip-hop star Ciara will perform on October 18 at the Etoiles Club, Emirates Palace at 11.30pm. Lohan allegedly assaulted at hotel room

Christian LaBella, a 25-year-old former congressional aide, was arrested on a misdemeanour assault charge but later released after allegedly attacking Lindsay Lohan at her hotel room on Sunday. Lohan and LaBella met hours earlier at a club and went back to her W Hotel room, when she supposedly noticed the mobile photos of her on his phone and grabbed the device. She claimed LaBella grabbed her and threw her, but later he said she had forcefully taken his phone. Lohan was injured but not hospitalised. The charge could not be substantiated so the arrest will be voided, said officials. Lohan's publicist Steve Honig expressed outrage that police did not charge LaBella. "We think it's both distressing and outrageous," he said. "Lindsey was assaulted and there needs to be a consequence for that." Lohan has filed a harassment complaint against LaBella. * AP

Foo Fighters to go on break

The Foo Fighters may be going on an indefinite hiatus. At the end of a New York show on Saturday, the band's lead singer Dave Grohl told the crowd: "Without making a big deal out of it, we don't have any shows after this. This is it, man. Honestly I don't know when we're gonna do it again." Grohl and his band mates performed at the Global Citizen Festival to raise awareness against poverty. They were joined at the free Central Park gig by John Legend, Neil Young and The Black Keys.

Cowell, will.i.am doing tech reality show

The musician will.i.am and The X Factor judge Simon Cowell are banding together to produce a new show for tech enthusiasts. "We're working on a project called X Factor for Tech and it's going to be out of this world," said the Black Eyed Peas rapper. "It's about getting in touch with youth and giving them a platform to express themselves - whether that's in science or mathematics." He said of their tandem: "Simon's cool. We had a wicked dinner a couple of weeks ago. Singing and performance create a couple of jobs. But this will create lots." * IANS

Patrick Stewart plans to reprise X-Men role

Patrick Stewart says he will reprise his role as Professor X in the X-Men film franchise at some point in the future. The 72-year-old actor, who played the character in five X-Men movies, revealed the news at the recent Montreal Comic Con. "I think there is every possibility," he said. "Yes, I'll be reprising." James McAvoy played Professor X in last year's X-Men: First Class and has signed on for the film's forthcoming sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past. There is no word on whether Stewart will be a part of the film. * IANS

Singer in The Rankin Family dies

Raylene Rankin, a member of the Canadian Celtic music group The Rankin Family, has died of cancer at the age of 52. The group's publicist confirmed the death on Sunday. Rankin and her four siblings formed the group more than 20 years ago, originally under the name The Rankins. They are credited with taking east-coast Canadian Celtic music to the mainstream. * AP
