Chesney Hawkes, No Mercy and Rozalla to perform at ‘retro-themed super brunch’

Nineties pop acts Chesney Hawkes, No Mercy and Rozalla will serenade diners at a “retro-themed super brunch”.

Hosted at Dubai brunch institution Yalumba, the cheekily titled Wow That’s What I Call Brunch! event – styled to resemble a certain popular compilation CD series –will serve up a veritable mountain of goodhearted cheese on Friday September 2.

Organisers are promising “this will be one of the largest indoor brunches” – a clear requirement to cater for the hundreds of nostalgic expats expected to attend this shameless celebration of kitsch.

What’s more, this is just the first in a planned series of retro brunches, each promising a trio of vintage acts, followed by an all-night disco courtesy of renowned cheese churner, DJ Tim Cheddar.

UK pop singer Hawkes is best known for 1991's aspirational anthem The One and Only, while German trio No Mercy rode the charmless Eurodance trend with 1996 hits Where Do You Go and When I Die.

Zambian dance vocalist Rozalla enjoyed short-lived success with 1991 hit Everybody's Free (To Feel Good).

The brunch will run from 1pm to 4pm and costs Dh495, available from platinumlist.net.
