Dubai has joined a select group of international cities to get the Birdman makeover treatment, with its own pair of promotional posters featuring the super hero atop the Burj al Arab and Burj Khalifa. The movie opened in local cinemas at the weekend, and in a move that is winning the movie's marketeers as many plaudits as the nine-Oscar-nominated movie itself, a selection of localised posters featuring cities across the globe is being used to sell the film to worldwide audiences. Studio Fox Searchlight notes that: "Being a vigilante of the night, Birdman obviously needs to protect our shores from sea to shining sea," and so he does in a series of localised posters featuring well-known landmarks from London, Toronto, Sydney, Seoul, Paris, Berlin and many more, including, of course, the new Dubai pairing. If it takes more than a couple of localised posters to persuade you to part with the cost of a cinema ticket, you can take it from us that the movie itself is well worth a visit, and if you need a second opinion, keep those nine Oscar nominations in mind too.
