Become a tribe member in Legends of Arabia live-action role-play event at Yas Waterworld

Round up your friends and family and try the Legends of Arabia: The Quest of the Pearl Tribes live-action role-play (LARP) at Yas Waterworld. Said to be one of the first in the region, the LARP lets participants dress up and take on new identities as they follow a story created for the event. Without giving too much away — because the fun truly unfolds around every corner — the story focuses on five early tribes of the region, each with their own identity, beliefs, strengths and characteristics, who are invited to compete to win the coveted role of leader of the tribes.

While the story has a set pace and direction, there is leeway for individual involvement and reaction, all of which leads to a unique outcome each time. The game is more fun with more players, so gather your colleagues and friends and make a night of it.

You’ll receive a kandura or abaya to change into, choose your tribe, gain some valuable fake-sword-fighting skills, hear a story that reflects the local culture and history, and enjoy the fun antics of professional LARP actors who have come to Abu Dhabi from Europe and North America.

Be prepared to take on the role of a diplomat, fighter, search-party member, hunter, negotiator or anything else your tribe may need.

When the story ends, you’ll join your tribe and the others at the Arabian buffet, where you will have the opportunity to meet the LARP professionals and fellow participants.

Before you leave, pick up a copy of your souvenir photo, as you’re sure to treasure your time as a tribe member and want to recall the proud moments you shared.

The event takes place at Yas Waterworld, but you won’t get wet. The venue is used for its pathways, bridges, stairs, and other authentic-inspired infrastructure that lends itself so well to the story. Wear comfortable clothes such as jeans and flat-soled shoes.
