It wasn't only Star Wars that had fans at San Diego Comic-Con salivating over the weekend. Not to be outdone by JJ Abrams' well-received behind the scenes clips from the forthcoming Star Wars movie, Warner Brothers had fans on their feet cheering too with the new trailer for the forthcoming Batman vs Superman movie.
The three and a half minute clip shows Ben Affleck’s caped crusader doing battle with Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel, who seems to have taken on some kind of deityesque proportions, to the displeasure of many including Batman himself.
We also get a glimpse of Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, who’s had something a makeover from the classic red, white and blue Lynda Carter uniform. In fact, the new Wonder Women outfit is aesthetically closer to Xena Warrior Princess than Carter’s all-American 70s incarnation, but that’s no bad thing as Carter’s star-spangled superhero hasn’t really dated too well.
There’s also a slightly overlong section of Superman receiving advice from his adoptive earth mother, which seems a bit unnecessary for an otherwise all-guns-blazing trailer, but otherwise the film looks pretty promising, as evidenced by the standing ovation it received from a packed Hall H.
