One of America's most popular morning television programmes, the Today show, is to broadcast from Abu Dhabi Corniche on Friday afternoon.
The show will be filmed from 2.30pm to 5pm. The Abu Dhabi segment will be hosted by co-anchor, field reporter and weatherman Al Roker.
Roker landed in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, tweeting under the hashtag #alsepicadventure. He posted a picture with his daughter Leila, who accompanied him, along with a short video before filming at Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.
The segment came about as part of a show on the US Travel Channel called 50/50.
On Wednesday, 50/50's co-hosts, Samantha Brown and Chris Grundy, hit the Today show venue in New York, where, helped by Roker, they found three people to join a race to spend Dh180,000 and 50 hours in Abu Dhabi.
The capital will provide the show’s first location when it premieres in the US on Sunday, October 4.
The Today show began 63 years ago and has been a staple of the North American morning routine. Featuring a mix of news, interviews, lifestyle features and a little bit of comedy, it traditionally broadcasts daily from New York – drawing crowds outside, no matter what the weather is.
