Abu Dhabi Film Festival 2012: Sunday October 14 film picks

Here's our pick of film to look out for on today's Abu Dhabi Film Festival schedule.

Clandestine Childhood Set in 1979 during the Argentinean military junta, this gripping semi-autobiographical story (still above) from Benjamin Ávila is told through the eyes of a 12-year-old boy forced to live under a false identity to protect his resistance fighter parents. Marina Mall, Vox 5, 1.45pm

Saving Face Watch a genuine Oscar-winner with this documentary, which picked up Best Documentary (Short Subject) at this year's Academy Awards. The film follows Dr Mohammad Jawad, a London-based Pakistani surgeon who returns to his home country to perform reconstructive surgery on acid attack survivors, also looking at the under-reporting of such violence and those women who are fighting for justice. Marina Mall Vox 1, 7.15pm

Everyday Michael Winterbottom is one of the most prolific directors around (he was in Abu Dhabi last year with Trishna), yet somehow he found time to film this dramatic documentary-style narrative in bits over five years. Touching on the subject of the UK prison system and its effect it on families, Everyday follows a young mother trying to hold it all together while her husband, a father of her four children, remains incarcerated. Marina Mall Vox 5, 9.30pm
