Abu Dhabi bride and groom celebrate wedding biker style

Social media users have been drawn to video of an Abu Dhabi wedding featuring a pair of Harley Davidson motorcycles as the centrepiece, prompting it to go viral.

The video was posted Sunday to YouTube by AmmanAlyoum, a Jordanian website Nadia Hussain and Emirati Salem Al Muraikhi invited to cover their wedding.

By Tuesday evening it had drawn almost 800,000 hits and was a trending topic on Twitter.

The video shows the couple, who are members of the biking community Emirates Riders, riding separate flower-and-netting festooned Harley Davidson motorcycles - the bride on a Sportster Forty-Eight - from their reception at Abu Dhabi’s Al Raha Beach Hotel over the weekend.

Hussain, who has been riding for four years to her husband’s two, can be seen saying she always dreamt about having a special – and very different – wedding.

“We had a lot of obstacles and difficulties to make it through this day, but thanks to God I did achieve my goal, and had a successful biker wedding,” she says in the video. “I’m so happy that I’m the first who did a biker wedding, and I want to thank my husband who supported me all the way.”

A helmet and sunglasses are the only dark touches on an all-in-white Hussein, who wore wedges, trousers under a tulle skirt, bedazzled gloves and an elaborate beaded jacket with dramatic, spiked epaulettes. At one point in the video she gestures happily into the camera while Al Muraikhi smiles, wearing a neck scarf and black T-shirt with a skull motif.

The couple celebrated with dozens of bikers from Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Jordan, Oman, Germany, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, later leading them on a lengthy procession down Sheikh Zayed Road.
