One of Bollywood's most popular couples, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary on Saturday. The couple met in 1997 when Bachchan and the former Miss World were both still starting out in the industry. Their Bollywood colleagues took to Twitter for well wishes. Bipasha Basu said: "Happy anniversary to the beautiful couple Junior Bachchan and Ash! Happiness forever, together." The couple have a year-old daughter named Aaradhya. – IANS
Yash Chopra to be honoured in Melbourne
The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, which starts on May 2, will confer the title of Father of Contemporary Indian Cinema on the late filmmaker Yash Chopra. Celebrating 100 years of Indian cinema, the festival will honour Chopra for his strong ties with the region and constant support to the festival. "Yashji had a close connection with the IFFM," said Yash Chopra's wife Pamela, who will be receiving the award. "He was happy to support it because he believed in promoting Indian films in foreign countries." – IANS
Hashmi hopes leading ladies get limelight
Emraan Hashmi, who stars alongside not one but three actresses in the supernatural thriller Ek Thi Daayan, is hoping audiences will appreciate the performances by the film's leading ladies. "I will be happy if all the three women get their due in the film," Emraan, 34, said of Huma Qureshi, Konkona Sen Sharma and Kalki Koechlin. "They are better than me." Ek Thi Daayan, co-produced between Vishal Bhardwaj and Ekta Kapoor, is out now in UAE cinemas. "People are saying it's India's best horror film," said Hashmi. – IANS
Banerjee working on new YRF project
Having already signed a three-year deal with Yash Raj Films, Dibakar Banerjee has now confirmed that the first movie is already in production. "It's being shot in Delhi right now," said the director. Despite working with such a big production house, Banerjee, known for films such as Khosla Ka Ghosla, has said he won't have to give up any of his filmmaking ideologies. "I won't have to compromise on anything. Now I have become very set with my ideas," he said. – IANS
Ranbir Kapoor dominates Bombay Talkies
Ranbir Kapoor appears in every frame in his short-film segment in the movie Bombay Talkies, according to Dibakar Banerjee, who added that he couldn't have made the film without the actor. "He is there in every frame. He is there as the ultimate hero against this average common man. Without Ranbir, this could not have happened," Banerjee said. Other directors who have contributed to Bombay Talkies, which is scheduled for release in India on May 3, include Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar and Karan Johar. – IANS
