Saint Laurent

Saint Laurent's "Skin SS16" collection comprised transparent slip dresses, oversized biker jackets, classic tuxedos and fluid evening gowns. Creative director Hedi Slimane styled this season’s looks with the two-strap Paris-heeled sandals, wellington boots and tiaras.

Maison Margiela

Creative director John Galliano shook things up with a collection that spanned the seasons, with sun hats paraded alongside cropped-sleeve cream crombie coats. Top of class were sleek and silky silhouettes in the form of fishtailed skirts in liquid-like bronze satin, Japanese-inspired obi tops and belts teamed with miniature backpacks.

Balmain

Olivier Rousteing sent his bevy of beauties down the ramp in ruffle-tiered trousers and crossover-peek-a-boo tops paired with latticed skirts. Cinched waists were the order of the day, most evident in belted bronze bodysuits plus caramel suede bomber jackets and dresses. Jewellery comprised high-necked metal collars and oversized earrings weighted with bonelike stones.

Dior

Staged at the Louvre Museum, Dior’s SS16 show was a fragrant one courtesy of a set adorned with 400,000 delphiniums. Midriff skimming knits appeared in ice-blue and navy, while scalloped necks and hemlines characterised delicate minidresses. The curved creativity continued in the form of wavy-seamed waistcoats, dainty slips and oversized striped dress-coats.

Alexander McQueen

Sarah Burton paid homage to the Huguenot migrants, who fled to London in the 17th century, with her collection. The theme was borne out in woven fabrics, shredded silk faille floral jacquard and velvet-silk yarns. Head-turning pieces included long dresses of lace-silk in ivory and cameo. Ruffles tiered and tumbled while floral embroidery accented buttery leather gowns and fine-knit dresses.
