It’s the news that millions of girls and young women have been dreading – One Direction are breaking up. The Sun newspaper reported that the band members will go their separate ways in March, after the release of their fifth studio album, to focus on solo projects.
It comes less than six months after Zayn Malik shocked fans by quitting the group in March, just days before One Direction performed at Dubai’s Sevens Stadium as part of their world tour.
The news has yet to be officially confirmed by the band. There is a glimmer of hope for devastated fans – the split is being described as a temporary break rather than a permanent split. “They fully deserve to have at least a year to work on their own projects,” a source told The Sun. “There is absolutely no bad blood between them and they are all 100 per cent behind the decision. It is definitely not a split and they fully intend to get back together at some time in the future.” – The National staff
