Attend the first session of the Literary Evenings at Qasr Al Muwaiji series, presented by Abu Dhabi Tourism & ­Culture Authority, with the aim of celebrating and honouring Arabic, Oriental and international literature by featuring a selections from novels, short stories and poetry. Ayoub Yousif will present linguistic variations inspired from the Arabic language, followed by Nabati poets from the Poetry Academy, who perform prose inspired by Emirati heritage.

Catch a screening of the 1925 Charlie Chaplin ­comedy film The Gold Rush at Cinema Space. The film is ­considered to be Chaplin's masterpiece, and follows his character The Little Tramp as a prospector in his search for fortune in the Klondike and his subsequent romance with Georgia (Georgia Hale), a beautiful dancer, complete with timeless gags and hilarity. The freshly restored film is silent, with English title cards, and features a newly ­recorded orchestral score.

In the film Fences, ­directed by and starring Denzel Washington, Troy Maxson ­(Washington) is a husband and father working as a waste collector in 1950s Pittsburgh. Bitter at having missed out on an ­opportunity to play Major League Baseball himself, he refuses to allow his son to meet a college football recruiter. The film is nominated for four Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Actor. Drama, also starring Viola Davis, Stephen Henderson and Mykelti Williamson.
