Ellen DeGeneres has given the entire studio audience of the Ellen show a trip to Abu Dhabi.
On a giving special – a classic daytime TV trope pioneered by Oprah – DeGeneres and actress Jennifer Aniston give the audience gift cards, an at-home rowing machine and luggage.
And then, Aniston says: "I think we should send them some place exotic," at which point the audience screams. She continues: "there's an island called Yas where you can ride the fastest roller coaster at Ferrari World, catch a wave at Yas Waterworld, and meet your favourite characters at Warner Bros World."
The audience takes in a breath before she says: "They're going to fly there on Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE." This is the point at which it clearly dawns on the audience that they're going to the Emirates, and they start to scream again.
DeGeneres makes the whole trip clear: "You're all getting park tickets, air fare and a six-day trip to Abu Dhabi everybody."
DeGeneres turns to Aniston and tells the former Friends star that she's going to the UAE's capital too.
Skip to four minutes, 30 seconds to see the part about the Abu Dhabi trip play out:
This isn't the first time DeGeneres has given away a trip to the UAE. In 2017, she gave her studio audience a trip to Dubai. At the time, she said: "I've been there, I love it, I'm talking about Dubai.
"Let me tell you about this amazing place," she said. “It is a melting pot of cultures with over 200 nationalities living there and they are welcoming to all. There is so much to do, the nightlife is insane.”
And in the same year, Aniston appeared in commercials for Emirates airline.
So, keep an eye out for the pair in Abu Dhabi in the coming months.
