While not everyone will go home with a Grammy Award following Sunday night's ceremony, they will, at least, be guaranteed a gift bag.
Every awards season, stars of Hollywood and the US music industry are gifted goodie bags from the (in normal times) lavish ceremonies. And while this awards season looks a little different, in-person and virtual guests at the 63rd annual Grammy Awards, will get treats to take – or be delivered to their – home.
The most diverse Grammys goodie bag yet
“We are proud to have curated our most inclusive gift bag yet, representing companies owned and operated by individuals across race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, age, persons with disabilities and beyond,” says Lash Fary, founder of Distinctive Assets, the Los Angeles-based entertainment marketing company putting the gift bags together.
“These entrepreneurs … give back to their communities and the world at large. This was a year to focus on something bigger than the quantity of items or a price tag.”
What’s in the Grammys gift bag?
Inside the Grammys gift bags for 2021 will be an array of goodies, from Bonfire x Trevor Noah Foundation T-shirts and tote bags, to Prince of Peace Ginger Chews and Honey Crystals, Tiger Balm Pain Relieving Patches and Grammy Museum Collection:live.
Guests will also get a gift card for Signed By McFly, a black-owned fashion label known for unisex designs; an anti-racist children's book titled Change-Maker Village; and The Happiness Planner gratitude journal.
They will also contain gifts from Baketivity, Bishology, British M, Canticos, Chubby Chipmunk, Cloud Water + Immunity, Cozy Earth, Cup of Te and games company Exploding Kittens.
Other brands involved include Hayley’s Bracelets, HFactor Hydrogen Water, HGC Apparel, Masktini, Music Connection, Oxygenetix, PETA x Save the Duck, Purely Elizabeth, T2 Tea and more.

The more serious side of specialty coffee
While the taste of beans and freshness of roast is paramount to the specialty coffee scene, so is sustainability and workers’ rights.
The bulk of genuine specialty coffee companies aim to improve on these elements in every stage of production via direct relationships with farmers. For instance, Mokha 1450 on Al Wasl Road strives to work predominantly with women-owned and -operated coffee organisations, including female farmers in the Sabree mountains of Yemen.
Because, as the boutique’s owner, Garfield Kerr, points out: “women represent over 90 per cent of the coffee value chain, but are woefully underrepresented in less than 10 per cent of ownership and management throughout the global coffee industry.”
One of the UAE’s largest suppliers of green (meaning not-yet-roasted) beans, Raw Coffee, is a founding member of the Partnership of Gender Equity, which aims to empower female coffee farmers and harvesters.
Also, globally, many companies have found the perfect way to recycle old coffee grounds: they create the perfect fertile soil in which to grow mushrooms.
