Sam Smith and Liam Gallagher are headlining an online music festival to benefit UK food charities and fellow music industry peers affected by the pandemic.

The soul singer and rocker will have their pre-recorded sets streamed as part of Music Feeds, which will run from Thursday, January 28 to Friday, January 29, and shown on the event website from 8pm GMT (midnight UAE time) each night.

The festival features an eclectic list of artists representing the UK’s vibrant music scene.

The 30 acts announced so far also include Irish punk band Flogging Molly, rock band James, soprano Charlotte Church and soul singer and theatre performer Beverley Knight.

With tickets priced at £15 ($20.5), organisers state proceeds will be split between UK charities tackling food shortage, and aiding creatives and back-of-house staff left unemployed because of Covid-19. Chosen charities are FareShare, Stagehand and Help Musicians.

James guitarist Saul Davies, who is part of the team behind the event, explained the festival will feature more than just intimate performances.

"You'll get never-seen performances from leading artists, uncover new bands, and get up-close and personal with interviews," he said.

"The festival will be broadcast to your Smart TV and devices over two nights, and festival-goers can even join the sofa mosh-pit via the simultaneous Twitter listening party.

"Additional artists who have been unable to perform have donated unique items for the companions Music Feed charity auction."

Music Feeds runs from Thursday, January 28 to Friday, January 29. Broadcast begins 8pm (GMT) both nights and tickets are £15. More information is available on the festival website.
