Page says no to Led Zeppelin reunion

Led Zeppelin will not be reuniting any time soon. That message came through loud and clear on Tuesday with sarcasm, stoic silence and even the occasional barb at reporters who dared to ask. Just the mere mention of the topic set lead singer Robert Plant off at their news conference for the band's new concert film, Celebration Day. "We've been thinking about all sorts of things, and then we can't remember what we were thinking about," Plant said testily. He then referred to a reporter by the pejorative term "schmuck". But at the film's premiere later in the evening, guitarist Jimmy Page set the record straight. "I think it's disappointing for people when the answer is no," Page said. Celebration Day covers their 2007 reunion concert at London's 02 Arena, their last performance on stage. It is set to release in UAE cinemas this month. * AP

Lady Gaga visits Julian Assange

Ecuador's Embassy in London says the WikiLeaks boss and would-be refugee Julian Assange has had a celebrity visitor: Lady Gaga. On Monday the 26-year-old American superstar singer posted a photograph of herself standing next to the 41-year-old Australian to her website with the caption: "No headline". An embassy visit would've been convenient: the singer was just down the street at Harrods department store to promote her new perfume, Lady Gaga Fame. However, angry fans booed her when she arrived at the store more than an hour late and immediately went inside. On Tuesday she was in Iceland, where she received a Lennon Ono Grant for Peace in Reykjavik. * AP

Rihanna, Minaj lead AMA nominees

Rihanna and Nicki Minaj are the leading nominees at the 40th annual American Music Awards with four nods each. Drake, Justin Bieber, Maroon 5, One Direction and Usher earned three bids apiece. Carrie Underwood, Chris Brown, Fun, Gotye, J Cole, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Luke Bryan and Pitbull are each double nominees. Nominees are selected based on broadcast airplay and online popularity. Fans can vote online for their favourites in all 20 categories. The American Music Awards will be presented on November 18 in Los Angeles. * AP

Gangnam style gets UN stamp of approval

Gangnam Style has secured an unlikely accolade after the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon hailed South Korean rapper Psy's global hit as a force for world peace. "I have seen it several times," the 68-year-old Korean diplomat revealed in an interview, voicing his pride at the way Psy had brought Korean pop and the nation's quirky sense of humour to a global audience. "I'm very proud that his performance has been loved and enjoyed by more than 400 million people. It is amazing." Ban said. "There are no languages required in the musical world. That is the power of music, that is the power of the heart." * AFP

Ke$ha publishes illustrated memoir

The singer-songwriter Ke$ha is publishing an illustrated memoir, My Crazy Beautiful Life, on November 20, shortly before her new album, Warrior, drops. "In less than three years I've gone from being the worst waitress in LA to living out my childhood dreams of singing my songs to people all over the world," Ke$ha, 25, said in a statement. "In these pages, I'm revealing a more complete picture of what my life is really like. It's not all glamorous, but it's all real." * AP

Louis CK to delay show until 2014

The FX network says it's delaying the return of its hit comedy Louie until spring 2014, a request by the series' Emmy-winning star, Louis CK, for what he called "a little breathing room". Along with performing in the show, he serves as producer, writer and editor, and also created it. During a teleconference, Louis CK said he gets "irritated" when he's not working but that he sought a break from the show "to feel hungry" again. Louie recently concluded its third season. * AP

Bear Grylls to star in competition series

Bear Grylls will soon have some company on his in-the-wild adventures. NBC announced that it is making a competition series with Grylls, the former star of Discovery's Man vs Wild series that tested his survival skills in foreboding settings. The new show, Get Out Alive, is planned for airing next summer. In it, Grylls will guide two teams in adventures. He says competitors "will learn survival skills and teamwork but will have to suffer some pain before being rewarded in the end". * AP
