What a year it’s been for BTS.
The K-pop boy band debuted their new music video for Idol on August 25, and it's already been viewed 80 million times since. But the more impressive news is that it was viewed 56.2 million views in the first 24 hours, smashing the previous YouTube record held by Taylor Swift for her music video to Look What You Made Me Do, which was viewed 43.2 million times in a day. This also marks the Korean boy band's all-time most-viewed video within 24 hours.
Their new album Love Yourself: Answer released on August 24, and is the third Korean-language compilation album by the group with Idol serving as the lead single.

There is also an alternative version featuring rapper Nicki Minaj. She posted on Instagram congratulating the group saying: "US iTunes All Genres Chart 😊😩 they did NOT come to play wit y'all 🤣. My version of #Idol with #BTS is out now! Congrats to them on a great new album. I'm honored to be a part of it. S/O to #KOREA ‼️"
Earlier in the year, BTS became the first K-pop group to hit No 1 on the Billboard 200 charts with their album Love Yourself: Tear. The group could possibly do it again with their latest release, but we'll have to wait until next week to find out if it will happen.
