Al Ain Music Festival returns tomorrow with another series of performances from locally based artists.

Back for a fifth edition, the festival is held in various venues across the Garden City, with concerts ranging from classical to funk and rock.

It starts tomorrow night with the Garden City Classics. Held at the cultural and wellness centre La Dolce Vita, the concert will feature a bevy of UAE-based talent led by American soprano Sherri Weiler and the duo Ilya Netkach (violin) and Natalia Nechepurenko (piano) - both of whom are music instructors at the House of Arts Institute. The action then moves to Danat Al Ain Resort Hotel on Saturday, with a free open mic night for musicians.

The action then moves to Danat Al Ain Resort Hotel the following night with a free open mic night for musicians.

Brazilian singer Midian Almedia will headline the Acoustic Vibes! concert on November 16 at La Dolce Vita with her brand of bossa nova and pop. She will be supported by Northern Irish and British vocalists Joan McEldowney and Atlanta Frith respectively.

The following night (November 17) is for jazz fans. Local performers will headline the All About Jazz concert at Al Ain Rotana, featuring saxophonist Paul Moutarde and keyboardist Tamas Antal.

The festival centrepiece, the popular Young Hands and Voices concert, returns on November 24, at the Al Ain Academy Auditorium, with music from the students of up to 10 Al Ain-based schools.

The festival concludes later that night in a more raucous fashion with veteran UAE rockers Chronicles of Khan headlining at Danat Al Ain Resort Hotel.

How to become a Boglehead

Bogleheads follow simple investing philosophies to build their wealth and live better lives. Just follow these steps.

•   Spend less than you earn and save the rest. You can do this by earning more, or being frugal. Better still, do both.

•   Invest early, invest often. It takes time to grow your wealth on the stock market. The sooner you begin, the better.

•   Choose the right level of risk. Don't gamble by investing in get-rich-quick schemes or high-risk plays. Don't play it too safe, either, by leaving long-term savings in cash.

•   Diversify. Do not keep all your eggs in one basket. Spread your money between different companies, sectors, markets and asset classes such as bonds and property.

•   Keep charges low. The biggest drag on investment performance is all the charges you pay to advisers and active fund managers.

•   Keep it simple. Complexity is your enemy. You can build a balanced, diversified portfolio with just a handful of ETFs.

•   Forget timing the market. Nobody knows where share prices will go next, so don't try to second-guess them.

•   Stick with it. Do not sell up in a market crash. Use the opportunity to invest more at the lower price.
