The pandemic may have halted touring plans for K-pop group BTS, but now the band is getting ready to once again hit the stage in front of their biggest fans.
The group is taking their BTS Permission to Dance on Stage concert to South Korea and Las Vegas, but for those in the region who can’t attend, Vox Cinemas is set to broadcast the concert live from Seoul.

Fans in the GCC, including Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain can book a ticket at Vox to enjoy the concert on the big screen. The band is expected to perform their greatest hits from Seoul’s Olympic Stadium with the concert being livestreamed to more than 60 countries.
The event will take place on Saturday and tickets are on sale now. The live performance will be broadcast at 12.45pm (UAE time) and has a running time of 195 minutes.
This isn’t the first time that BTS have livestreamed their gig to fans in the region. Vox also screened BTS World Tour: Love Yourself in Seoul to fans in Saudi Arabia and the UAE in 2019.
Last month, the K-pop group was named the top-selling music act of 2021 by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, which represents the music recording industry worldwide.
"BTS's phenomenal success over the last year is a testament to their creativity, hard work and ongoing commitment to continuing to find ways to bring their music to the world," said the federation's chief executive Frances Moore.
"By performing in three different languages, they demonstrate their extraordinarily unique global appeal, and their dynamic and passionate fan base has helped to make them the first artists in history to top the Global Artist Chart in two consecutive years."
According to the federation, the honour is determined by an artist or group’s worldwide performance across digital and physical music formats, including streaming and vinyl, and spans their entire discography.
BTS released three new songs in 2021: Butter, Permission to Dance, and My Universe, a collaboration with Coldplay. The group sing in Korean, Japanese and English.
How will Gen Alpha invest?
Mark Chahwan, co-founder and chief executive of robo-advisory firm Sarwa, forecasts that Generation Alpha (born between 2010 and 2024) will start investing in their teenage years and therefore benefit from compound interest.
“Technology and education should be the main drivers to make this happen, whether it’s investing in a few clicks or their schools/parents stepping up their personal finance education skills,” he adds.
Mr Chahwan says younger generations have a higher capacity to take on risk, but for some their appetite can be more cautious because they are investing for the first time. “Schools still do not teach personal finance and stock market investing, so a lot of the learning journey can feel daunting and intimidating,” he says.
He advises millennials to not always start with an aggressive portfolio even if they can afford to take risks. “We always advise to work your way up to your risk capacity, that way you experience volatility and get used to it. Given the higher risk capacity for the younger generations, stocks are a favourite,” says Mr Chahwan.
Highlighting the role technology has played in encouraging millennials and Gen Z to invest, he says: “They were often excluded, but with lower account minimums ... a customer with $1,000 [Dh3,672] in their account has their money working for them just as hard as the portfolio of a high get-worth individual.”
