Latest Mission Impossible clip shows Abu Dhabi as you've never seen it before

The latest promo clip for the forthcoming Mission Impossible: Fallout features what looks like the first glimpse of the infamous stunt that Tom Cruise performed when he jumped out of a cargo plane high above the Abu Dhabi desert in March as it will appear in the movie, although you may need eagle eyes to recognise the desert on the outskirts of the city from the brief snippet we see in the clip.

Behind-the-scenes footage of Cruise performing the stunt, which sees him jump out of a military aircraft and freefall for almost 25,000 feet, was released last month, however now we can actually see the scene as it will appear on screens, and it looks like it won't appear as Abu Dhabi.

CGI wizards at Paramount have been at work on the footage, and it looks as if the stunt will be taking place somewhere decidedly less arid when it reaches cinemas – in place of the dust and dunes of the behind-the-scenes clips, the aircraft in the clip is flying over a patchwork of neat green fields and waterways which appear to have been added in post production. The Abu Dhabi skies, it would appear, will be deputising for those of another location – other filming locations for the movie have included the UK, India, New Zealand and Norway.

Elsewhere, the latest clip doesn’t give too much away about the film. Talking heads from the main cast and crew reveal that Cruise’s special agent, Ethan Hunt, will be on “a new mission,” and Henry Cavill’s August Walker is “in” too, and will be joining him. It looks like there’ll be plenty more stunts from the traditionally action-packed franchise too, with a truck and a helicopter among other vehicles likely to get the MI treatment. We don’t have too long to find out – the movie lands in UAE cinemas on July 26.
