Idris Elba did little to dispel rumours he will be the next James Bond as he trolled fans with a Golden Globes selfie.

Sitting alongside current Bond Daniel Craig, the pair posed for a selfie, which Elba later posted to Twitter alongside the caption: “awks”.

Daniel Craig is staring intently at Elba in the picture, while he jokingly looks uncomfortable in his seat.

The tweet sent Bond fans wild, with many taking it as a hint Elba would soon be confirmed as the next 007.

It’s the latest in a string of teases Elba has dropped since rumours began swirling that he would take on the iconic role once Craig’s current run was up.

Last year, Elba used the Bond theme tune to open one of his DJ sets in London, and he also famously tweeted a picture of himself alongside the caption “my name’s Elba, Idris Elba”.

The Luther star was attending the 76th Golden Globe awards at the Beverly Hilton in support of his 17-year-old daughter, Isan, who was this year's Golden Globe Ambassador.

They walked the red carpet together, alongside Elba’s fiancee Sabrina Dhowre, where the actor told waiting reporters he was trying not to embarrass his daughter.
