Lady Gaga has shared the first image from the set of the coming Ridley Scott film House of Gucci.

The singer set the internet alight with the photo, which shows her in character as Patrizia Reggiani, alongside Adam Driver, who plays fashion mogul and Reggiani’s ex-husband Maurizio Gucci.

The pair are pictured in the mountains of Italy dressed in retro, monochromatic Alpine gear. Wearing a white fur hat, and chunky gold jewellery, Gaga’s resemblance to the Italian socialite is striking. The image was captioned "Signore e Signora Gucci," meaning "Mr and Mrs Gucci."

Photos of Driver in character as Gucci, the grandson of the fashion house's founder, first emerged online earlier in the week. However, this is the first close up image of the Girls star, who is pictured in a cream roll neck wearing metal-framed glasses.

Based on the novel The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed, the film will tell the story of the famous Gucci family dynasty and the downfall of Reggiani, who was charged with plotting Gucci's murder.

The fashion boss was shot outside his Milan office 1995, with his former wife found guilty of orchestrating the murder and sentenced to 29 years in prison.

The film is Gaga's first major on-screen role since her turn in 2018's A Star is Born, which saw her nominated for the Best Actress Oscar and win an Academy Award for Best Original Song.

House of Gucci is currently being filmed in Italy and also stars Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons and Jared Leto. It is scheduled to release in cinemas in November.
