Abu Dhabi looks set to be the backdrop to some dramatic car stunts as part of the upcoming shoot for the Salman Khan thriller Race 3.

The sequel, which will see Khan replace Saif Ali Khan in the title role of businessman Ranvir Singh for the first time in the Race franchise, is set to begin prepping to shoot in the UAE on March 2, according to sources close to the production, and will feature a stunt-heavy, five-car pile up on the streets of Abu Dhabi, as well as a Ford Raptor pick-up truck being driven off a bridge in the capital.

The movie is also set to use one of the biggest, most technologically advanced drones ever seen in the UAE to capture the action from the best angles, with experts being flown in from North America to build and control the airborne beast.

The movie will also feature Jacqueline Fernandez as female lead, while Anil Kapoor will reprise his role as police inspector Roberto ‘RD’ De Costa, making him the only member of the cast to have survived all three instalments.

The globe-trotting movie has already shot scenes in Mumbai, where production was briefly halted in January due to death threats received by Khan and reports of armed men appearing at the film’s Film City base, and in Thailand. The stars and crew have been regularly updating social media with shots from the set.

Khan is no stranger to the UAE having previously shot extensive scenes for Tiger Zinda Hai in the capital. Khan expressed his desire to return to shoot in the emirate following that experience  – he hasn't had to wait too long for his wish to be granted.
