An online creative writing course by Warehouse421 will delve into the finer aspects of the craft.
Led by writer and architect Yosr El Sherbiny, from the online education platform Wri.chi.tects, the course will explore the writing and editing process through discussions and practical exercises.
Running from Monday to Wednesday, October 26 to 28, the Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purposes workshop will be split across three 90-minute sessions, from 6pm each day.
In addition to an outline of the course, the first day will feature a presentation focusing on the therapeutic benefits of creative writing. The second session will be a more practical one, with writing and editing exercises. The final session will have participants reading out their work with constructive feedback provided by the class afterwards.
"Learning and artistic experiment is at the heart of Warehouse421’s mission, and we wanted to provide an avenue for the creative community, be they practitioners or audiences, to engage with art and design digitally while they are safe and social-distancing," said manager Faisal Al Hassan in a statement.
"Through this virtual experience, we hope that regional creatives can continue to develop their artistic practices, connect with one another, and engage with art and design in new ways.”
The writing workshop is part of Warehouse421's expanding programme of events. Ever since the Abu Dhabi arts centre reopened last month, the venue has hosted numerous online events, including panel discussions and tutorials. It has also launched a cultural podcast series called Conversations.
The centre has also played a leading role in supporting local and regional artists whose careers suffered amid the pandemic. Through its Project Revival Fund, Warehouse421 supported 30 projects with grants of up to $2,000 each.

What drives subscription retailing?
Once the domain of newspaper home deliveries, subscription model retailing has combined with e-commerce to permeate myriad products and services.
The concept has grown tremendously around the world and is forecast to thrive further, according to UnivDatos Market Insights’ report on recent and predicted trends in the sector.
The global subscription e-commerce market was valued at $13.2 billion (Dh48.5bn) in 2018. It is forecast to touch $478.2bn in 2025, and include the entertainment, fitness, food, cosmetics, baby care and fashion sectors.
The report says subscription-based services currently constitute “a small trend within e-commerce”. The US hosts almost 70 per cent of recurring plan firms, including leaders Dollar Shave Club, Hello Fresh and Netflix. Walmart and Sephora are among longer established retailers entering the space.
UnivDatos cites younger and affluent urbanites as prime subscription targets, with women currently the largest share of end-users.
That’s expected to remain unchanged until 2025, when women will represent a $246.6bn market share, owing to increasing numbers of start-ups targeting women.
Personal care and beauty occupy the largest chunk of the worldwide subscription e-commerce market, with changing lifestyles, work schedules, customisation and convenience among the chief future drivers.
