Ayyam Gallery will present the exhibition The Road. The Syrian artist Tammam Azzam presents a new body of work featuring paintings he created since leaving Damascus more than four years ago. The painterly canvases place the viewer at the beginning of a still and empty road that has no direction or destination, but endless trajectories and obstacles.
Working on a large scale, the cropped compositions by the Dubai-based artist depict the physical wreckage of war in which the viewer can only speculate on life behind the walls of buildings. Additionally, new digital media prints will accompany this body of work with a more abstract interpretation of a journey or road.
