The international emerging artist awarded in Dubai earlier this year makes his European debut

Timothy Hyunsoo Lee, the Korean-American artist who won the International Emerging Artist Award (IEAA) in Dubai earlier this year, will be making his European debut tonight.

As part of his prize for the IEAA, Lee won two years representation at Sabrina Amrani Gallery in Madrid - where his show opens tonight.

His work, an incredibly detailed collection of watercolours on paper stem from a childhood of displacement, immigration and psychological disorder.

They also combine beautifully with his study in the fields of biological science.

He uses painted diamond-like cells, which reference the study of cells and tissues, to chart out the map of his mind. The solo show, titled double-sided, offer a fascinating glipmse into the work of this artist, who I personally believe will have a long and fruitful career head of him
